February 2024 Production Update

--

Hello, friends. I hope you're well.

The Chad tier of my crowdfunding model has been modified to exclude Early Access to uploads. This was done to be in line with updates to Microsoft's Game Content Usage rules regarding crowdfunding.

My public upload for this month is another short Arby 'n' the Chief episode called Chief Takes Off HIs Helmet: The Movie. In case you needed warning: it's stupid; and I hope you like it.

What I spent more time on this month was finalizing a shooting script of the first episode of my new Hard Justice series-- a Halo: Reach machinima about cops and aliens-- which, as of the time of this writing, I've finished.

Once it's fed through a screenwriting application I imagine the screenplay will be around eighty pages. An outline for an entire season was written and re-written over and over across a number of years, then every scene in the screenplay re-written several times. I've already started building in-game characters and sets, and in the following week, will break down the script and begin shooting as well as a process for potential voice actors to send submissions to me via e-mail in the form of audio files. I will make sides from the script available for download on my website for those auditioning to perform. I will announce on X when the process has started. I look forward to production, listening to auditions and getting this show started so you can finally see what I've been cooking for so long. I'm very happy with the script and hope people enjoy the story and appreciate its message. I'm aiming to release the full episode by the end of next month, but it may not come out until April. If I can't get it out in March I should at least have another short something lined up.

Thank you very much to my paying subscribers for another month of generous support as well as everyone for your viewership and encouragement.

December 2023 Production Update

Hello, friends.

I hope you enjoyed the holidays, as well as my little Christmas video. I'm sorry if you were expecting more than it. I didn't even have an idea for a Christmas upload until mid-December, and the idea kept changing -- first it was gonna be a short Die Hard parody, then when I realized I wouldn't be able to flesh it out or make it funny enough in time for Christmas day, it turned into a little story involving gift opening with a big gag at the end, but then the script for that ballooned into something unrealistic for the ever-shortening time window; so, two days before Christmas, I wrote the video that I ended up making, and rushed to get it up for the holiday, staying up until 5AM on Christmas Eve editing. I noticed a couple of people were disappointed that there wasn't a Christmas video planned and I felt bad. I wanted to deliver something with a bit of heart, small as it ended up being, to show my gratitude for my patrons and members' continued financial support; and now, fortunately, I have some material to further develop throughout the coming year to be prepared for production of a more elaborate Christmas video next December.

The writing for my upcoming machinima series about cops, Hard Justice, continues to come along nicely, although I took a break from it over the holidays. I'm hoping to get something out at least pertaining to it in February, even if it's just a teaser or trailer.

As I had Arbiter say in the Christmas video, throughout 2024 I'd like to increase the regularity of my uploads, not only with streams and smaller videos made from their footage, like an upcoming highlights reel of my Game Awards show watch-along and a video on my machinima creation methods, as well as gaming streams to come, like one of Sonic Adventure, and more Professional Reviews based on whatever games I stream, but also short Arby 'n' the Chief sketches, likely in the form of a fourth season of Bytes with the original run times of a few-to-ten minutes each.

Every now and then I pick away at the development of a video game I eventually want to make, likely something of the first-person horror genre -- though it could also end up being an action side-scroller or top-down comedy RPG -- but that's still in the very early stages of development; although now I've read three computer science books about writing in C and C++ and working with the latest version of the Godot game development engine.

If you enjoy my appearances on other shows, I recently participated in a couple of Every Frame A Pause (EFAP) streams that are available on YouTube now: one's a group reaction to Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, and the other is that of one of YouTube movie reviewer Chris Stuckmann's videos regarding his favorite films of 2023.

Thank you as always for your viewership and continued, generous support, I really appreciate everything, however small, and I wish you all a happy new year!

Hello, friends. I hope you're well.

This month of May I've been releasing new director's commentaries on my Arby 'n' the Chief season seven episodes weekly for my Gosu subscribers on YouTube, Patreon and SubscribeStar, as well as four video tutorials on my production process exclusively for my Hax0r subscribers ranging from brainstorming, outlining and writing to live action recording and machinima staging and performance. The tutorials released so far amount to several hours of material that intercuts between myself and desktop and console footage capture.

I need some more time to finish the rest of the tutorials.

Based on previous updates of mine on Twitter you may have expected all the tutorials to be done this month. I'm sorry about that. They turned out a bit longer than expected.

As always, if any of my Patreon subscribers would like to be refunded for a month's subscription please let me know via direct messaging on the Patreon platform, it's easily done and I'm happy to do it.

Once my tutorials are done I'll be resuming work on my typical public uploads. Likely upcoming ones currently include a Mediabyss episode on the movie Jack and Jill or Timecop, Professional Reviews episodes on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Resident Evil 4 and others -- whatever I've thought of reviewing from a comedic or satirical angle I've found -- and an Arby episode that's a parody of the movie Akira.

I came close to finishing development of a big two-part Arby episode involving a dildo but I've halted that, perhaps only temporarily, upon realizing I could put my channel in jeopardy on the basis of nude depiction, even though my approach would be ridiculous and make it obvious that the dildo isn't real. It's a shame, I think the episode would be really funny. What bothers me about the situation the most is that releasing it on YouTube seems to be a roll of the dice regarding penalization (no pun intended).

I'm still picking away at writing Hard Justice in between everything else, it's a big project. I'm also 35 years old today. That's almost 40. That's practically 50. I might as well be 100. That makes me literally over 100 years old. Time sure flies. Hard to believe 1988 was over 10,000 years ago.

Regardless, I continue to film myself playing with toys, but I think that's okay. It's been my favorite job, and I hope you still enjoy watching. Thank you all for your continued viewership, encouragement and generous support and I hope you stay tuned.

Cheers, Jon
