In this experiment I measure the drop rates of magnets in attraction, magnets in repulsion, and a nonmagnet when placed in an Atwood machine with the same counterweight. The magnets in repulsion fell 12.11% slower than the magnets in attraction, while the non-magnet fell 3.64% faster than the magnets in attraction. While not conclusive, these results strongly suggest that magnets in repulsion do fall slower in gravity as Boyd Bushman, senior engineer at Lockheed Martin, had claimed. I will perform this experiment at higher heights in the near future so stay tuned!

In this video I show that space curves can be used to model charged particle motion in orthogonally oriented electric and magnetic fields. Depending on the speed and position of a charged particle, the motion is either a cycloid or a trochoid (a more general version of a cycloid). In this experiment I have combined the magnet drop tests by Paul Mueller in side-by-side view to better demonstrate that magnets glued in repulsion fall significantly faster than when placed in attraction. Magnets in repulsion also fall slower than individual magnets despite the weight being double and the fact that their attraction counterparts fall faster. This is truly ground-breaking findings here!

In this experiment I have collaborated with Paul Mueller in producing a series of magnet drop tests for 3 different cylinder magnet types through 3 copper tubes. The experiments show that magnets glued together in repulsion can fall down significantly slower than if they were in attraction. These results open up new research areas for Lenz's Law and provide an indirect validation of Boyd Bushman's claim that magnets in repulsion fall slower in gravity.
