Been struggling to be inspired lately to work on any maps, but I broke through that this week for my homebrew campaign. Here is an encounter map that takes place in Nyhst. I was just trying to do some experimentation with light and shortcuts for creating areas of light quickly. Definitely some great moments here, but as a whole I'm not sure it's working as well as I'd like. Still some experimentation to do.

Recent commission for the Adventurers League event, Liars Night, that the DDAL admins have been putting together the past few years. Had the joy of decorating Mordenkainen's Haunted House for Wave 2.  The adventure can be found at this link

Finishing working on a couple encounter maps for a module I'll be running in a convention on Saturday and Sunday this week. This particular module is called Jaunt to the Center of Faerun (CCC-ALMOG-20, Tales 01-04).

This is a much needed respite from the tedium of a recent city map I have been bogged down trying to finish. Always a bit nostalgic and cathartic to create maps for convention obligations. In 2017 when I got into D&D I threw my hat into every convention that I could for about 2 years, almost visiting a new con every month. This created a ton of opportunities to be inspired, to earn my dungeon master chops and to make maps.

Threw together this map for a presumed clash of my adventurers with an antagonist in Icewind Dale. It's a kennel/stable with an attached warehouse. Should work well for the quest "Cold-Hearted Killer". It's layered so you can overlay the loft and the roof on top of the building to create a more dynamic presentation to your group in Roll20.

I am lukewarm on the final result. I wanted to make it look like the landscape was lit with the glow of the aurora that happens nightly from 12am - 7am, but I may have gone a bit overboard with the saturation. May tweak it a bit before I post it to Instagram. Also, the details inside the barn aren't all that finished, but I think it gets the point across. There are definitely some successes here though that I celebrate and am excited to bring to the next piece I end up doing.

Just finished up my map for the Foaming Mugs side quest in Icewind Dale. Map is 22" x 55" so fully to scale for the 240 in-game feet you would need to accurately run the encounter and all under 5 mb so perfect for your Roll20 games!

Started the first of my intro missions for my players in Icewind Dale last night. For the mission entitled, "Lake Monster" I needed a rowboat and an eerie section of lake to put my players on.

The first town in my 10 towns series gets its battlemap!

The map is a triptych spanning 9ft long. With varied scenery to allow for many different uses when revealed in full or contained with fog of war in Roll20: small campsite near the river, bridge, orchard, forested hills, dirt road, etc. My goal with this series is to give DMs a bunch of tools to use while filling out their adventurers with quality generic scenery. There is a lot of fancy maps out there that I could never see myself using without creating an entire adventure around it. These are made with the intent of being re-used--not as generic as a basic battlemap, but also not as remarkable as to hinder their reuse.

The Magic Trout Tavern is the local bar in Alton. Laid out the building with built in 5ft measurements in the tiles of the image. Still working on evolving my battlemap styles. Trying to also decide if color is really necessary.

With Icewind Dale's release looming in September I decided it would be timely to create some variant encounter maps that feature some winter scenes. I also will be running the new book for some friends and I'm sure i'll end up needing them. Each section is 24" x 36" a fantastic size for a sprawling battle and each piece is cut from the larger panorama.

Started my encounter map binge by unearthing one of the first maps I drew, EVER, for Dungeons and Dragons and gave it a digital makeover. I started my D&D cartography expedition back in 2017. I used to use large gridded easel paper to drawn my maps, coloring them in with colored pencil. Made me fall in love with art again. Before that I had gone about 10 years without really drawing at all. It feels fitting to unearth some of these old designs and rework them.

Also, worked in a separate canopy layer to add some extra dimension to the map. Who knows, maybe you're players will be flying overhead when they are attacked by Gnolls on Wyverns.
