Microsoft Office has been the longtime leader in office productivity software ever since the computer revolution started. But recently with major strides made in Cloud computing and the updating of the HTML language(HTML5-current version), have many competitors risen to claim the leadership in this market.
If you are looking for an alternative due to cost, performance, or just a dislike of Open Source software and Microsoft products, you have many alternatives available. Not all office suites are created equal however...
The biggest downside to Cloud computing is offline use. While Google offers offline versions through plugins with the Chrome browser, they are not always consistent or reliable. Other Cloud-based office suites are simply not even available offline.
However, with all this talk of Cloud-based office suites, let me just add that SSuite Office is the only software company in the world that is able to offer you a consistent and reliable online/offline experience because our web based office suite runs directly inside your web browser as a PWA(Progressive Web Application) or just as a stand-alone application.
While Microsoft Office and Google's G-Suite continues to dominate the world of office productivity suites, both online and in desktop versions, some home users, students, and many small businesses may be put off by the idea of monthly or even annual subscription fees, not to mention account registration and consistent login prompts before being able to use any of their products or any other online office suite.
Other serious concerns about Cloud-based office suites and software are personal privacy and security. Any and all data/text entered into online Cloud software and documents that are uploaded to any Cloud-based office suite, will be scrutinized and monitored by that company. All your personal documents will then be used to collect data on you so that it may be sold off to third-party data-brokers, or worse yet collected by intelligence agencies, for their own profit, leaving you completely exposed to advertisers and hackers alike.
The alternative to downloading an office suite is to use one of the many online options, which are all Cloud-based and hidden behind login prompts, as we have mentioned before so explicitly. The obvious downside to all of them is you must be online for them to work. If there is no internet connection, you have no way to access your own private data or documents! Obvious actually, but not mentioned at all by any online technology company!
There is another drawback of working with third-party software. Most document creators simply accept Microsoft as the throne-holder, making compatibility trickier especially when using Microsoft's docx and xlsx document formats, which are all proprietary in nature and designed specifically to promote vendor-lockin. Do you have document format problems?
Additionally, you also need to bear in mind that document formatting can be saved in different ways for the same file type for different programs, which can cause problems when sharing files with other users who use different software. Therefore it's important to note if the formatting will be retained accurately when using Cloud-based office suite applications.
We make use of HTML5 as our main document format due to its consistent formatting and reliable support over multiple OS platforms and browsers.
Amongst other custom features, our web based office suite has the added advantage of having a “Dark Mode” which is highly beneficial when working late at night and finding the pure white background of the editor hard on your eyes. This setting can be found on our main page and even on each individual web application. Just look for the "" toggle switch to change the mode.

PWA? What is that again?
A PWA or Progressive Web Application is a mobile/desktop optimized website that has features of a native application. This means it looks like an app, can be used just like an app, even though it's a website. So you don't even have to go to an AppStore to use or install a PWA! ...Incredible!!
Now you can simply place a PWA enabled website/app on your desktop or mobile device via Google Chrome 70+ or the latest release of MS Edge browser 77+ (Chromium based) and always have it ready to run with just one click, just like a native application. The PWA does without typical browser elements, e.g. URL bar and navigation - as soon as you open it for the first time directly from your desktop or mobile device.
PWAs for the Chrome/FireFox browsers for Android smartphones were already supported at the beginning of 2017 and later activated as standard. Users of Windows 7/8/10 desktop PCs first had to wait a little longer. Only with Chrome 67 could PWAs be installed and used via desktop. How to install a PWA under Google Chrome or MS Edge:
Since PWAs are not declared as such in the browser, you don't know at first if the visited website is a PWA or not. Nevertheless, it is very easy to find out. While you are on a website, you simply call up the menu (three points at the top right) of Google Chrome 70+ or MS Edge 77+.
With MS Edge:

If you find the entry "Install XYZ" in the menu, then the website is a PWA.
How to install a PWA in Google's Chrome browser...
After you have "installed" the PWA, it appears as an icon on your desktop, taskbar, and/or start menu just like a native application. With a single click you call it up and you will see that the controls described above such as URL bar and navigation are no longer visible. Furthermore, the PWA is even more deeply integrated into your operating system to allow you for example the offline mode or via online push notifications.

The "native feel" is key to PWAs, and proponents seek to get to the point where a PWA feels just as snappy as its native cousin, and does not necessarily need an internet connection or a visible browser window in order to function.

On occasion, Windows Update gets stuck or gives an error code.
In an ideal world, this wouldn't be an issue - but this isn't an ideal world, and upgrading Windows is never as straightforward as Microsoft would have you believe.
For the most part, Windows updates happen silently in the background, only installing after a prompt or when you shutdown your PC. But there are occasions when it needs a helping hand.
Perhaps it's downloaded half of the update before deciding it doesn't want to stay connected to the server. Other times, Windows 10 just fancies doing its own thing for a while, slowing your eagerly awaited update to a crawl.
Ideally, Windows Update is one of those Windows 10 components you'd never see or hear. Generally, if it isn't restarting your PC in the middle of an incredibly important piece of work, Windows Update tends to whirr away unobtrusively in the background of Windows 10, downloading updates as it when it needs to.

This is a big yet simple question, as MS Office is the defacto standard around the world. Many have tried to brake Microsoft's monopoly with creating their own proprietary document formats, but to no avail.
With the advent of HTML5 the internet has seen a massive growth in web content, interactive websites, and even the creation of instant stand alone web browser apps. Web browsers already have most if not all of the capabilities of word processing already embedded into its programming. Since all web browsers have to be HTML5 compliant, it is very possible to create HTML5 applications that are able to replace current text editors and even professional word processors currently found on desktop computers.
For those of you who haven't used, know about, or have seen our online office suite, you definitely don't need to be compatible with the big bad wolf called MS Office to share and exchange documents with friends and colleagues.
In some respect it is even better than MS Office, since you don't need to install resource heavy software on your desktop or computer device. Even better than online MS Office is the fact that it also doesn't run off the Cloud either.
What that means is that our web apps are always available to be used when YOU need it most, unlike Cloud based online software; if the Cloud goes down, so does your Online Office suite, leaving you high and dry without any recourse.
