General Questions

• What is The Butterfly Effect?
  • The Butterfly Effect (Spoiler Free) is a visual novel based around you as a junior highschooler going through depression problems after his parents' death. As sad as it's sound, the rest of the game revolves arounds you overcoming it through the help of those around you. While it started as a simple dating sim, as I fleshed out the characters, it became more of a story-driven narrative with multiple different paths and LARGE amount of lore based off of your choices with the girls and secret interactions. 

• Who is working on the project?
  • This is a solo project created by yours truly. I don't have a team or anything. Everything (Besides artwork and music, which I hire people to commission or use Free to use material) is being worked on by myself. I am self-taught in coding so I'm no expert, but I have a good idea on what to do. 

• How many chapters are within the game?
  • Currently, the main story will consist of 12 chapters. While that sound small, most chapters will take about an hour of 2 to complete (Mainly on your first playthrough, as you can skip scene you've already seen.) with the exception being that the multiple pathing in every chapter. Some paths are longer, some are shorter, so the time varies from your choices. This also doesn't account for secret chapter that can be found and unlocked, future add-ons, and possible DLC. I have big plans for this project.

• What is the current state of this project? (As of 1/16/2024)
  • Chapters 1-3 are available to play over on my Itch.io (The Butterfly Effect by Mythic (itch.io)) with Chapter 4 currently being tested. The chapter system was implemented into the revamp. 

• What and when is the next update? (As of 1/16/2024)
  • The next update to the game will include Chapter 5, special stories you could find and unlock, and some lore secret for you to discover. The next secret stories will add on to previous secrets while also giving you a look into another one of the girls. (Maybe some 'sister' problems)

• What happens once the project is completed?
  • Once this fully completed (Including add-ons and DLC), there will be a sequel to this game.
