BGE here, checking in with a speed-esque update regarding a few things. 

Let me get right to it: for one, I've decided to sunset the $1 patron pledge tier here on the ol' Patreon for the foreseeable future. Now, let me say up front that this won't impact any current $1 patrons whatsoever. For those active backers the tier effectively DOES still exist with its tier reward of patron Discord access, all this change does is no longer make that tier an option for future supporters.

Regarding this change, it is of course true that I don't owe you NERDS an in-depth explanation about any nitty-gritty bidness decisions that don't directly impact you, as this doesn't, but I am a merciful god so allow me to explain my reasoning anyway. :^) I've considered making this change this for some time now and have come to the conclusion that having that tier of support doesn't make sense for the current BGE business model, which, naturally, is the nature of this relationship of ours. Offering the $1 tier as the lowest tier effectively advertises that as a preferred option, which I would rather not do. Patreon itself takes a % cut out of every donation as well as in addition to various fees which mean that larger donations should be more efficient in passing payment from patron to creator. Now, I'm not making the change out of charity or anything, I get that this results in more being asked of individual backers, but as always, the calculation of what supporting my work is worth to you is your decision to make and I've decided I would like to experiment with limiting potential $1 donations in favor of soliciting ones $5 and up. This could change one day, as that business model makes more sense for much more popular creators, but for BGE this makes sense to me right now. Those of you who support my work over on our sister site Subscribe Star already know that we never even had a $1 tier over there for these reasons. Again, this is a business and I want it to grow as it has in the past, so here's hoping it works out. Franky I've been working my ass off for these last few months on BGE content (only a fraction of which you've seen so far) and am hopeful people will recognize that and decide to support the work. We shall see. 

I've heard some suggestions such as adding back the tier with no rewards whatsoever, or just the ability to read backer-only posts on this site, and I consider all of these useful, but for now I thought simply disabling it makes the most sense. I would be happy to hear suggestions or answer questions if anything is unclear or you think I could do something better. Please comment below regarding any of it, whether you are a paying patron currently, considering becoming one, or otherwise. 

Regarding the next change, it is somewhat related to the first. On the BGE Patron Discord I've made a number of changes to various chat rooms, deleting some rarely-used ones, renaming and reorganizing sections, and so on. This should reduce clutter and redundancy on the server. Also, during this transitionary period, I've left open a chat for former patrons (normally if you un-pledge you lose access to almost all chats but aren't kicked from the server). I'll leave it be for some time, it's nice to chat with some old faces in there, but since the server is designed to be for patrons exclusively, that will likely sunset in some time as well too, unless for some reason I feel like radically rethinking the Discord itself (not likely).
