Cold Iron Brought to Life.

I forged out this candle holder some time back.  It's a pretty simple design with only four parts (three if you don't include the rivet), but I think it exemplifies what the blacksmith can do.

With heat and hammer, cold iron is transformed into something that seems alive.  This piece will be around for the next hundred years or more.  Long after I'm gone, this piece will be passing from hand to hand, one family after another enjoying its beauty and wondering where it came from.

They take time to make, but that's a small price to pay for something that'll become a family heirloom.
