This Time It's Different
Everything is interconnected, Oil prices affect gas, gas affects fertilizer, fertilizer affects food, oil affects transportation and plastic is lost in the middle to pack our foods. Each loop amplifies the next shock.
Shockingly the Super-Nino is forecast to be the strongest since 1877 which knocked back world population 4%, but there weren't Middle East oil disruptions happening either.
At the very minimum we are looking at fertilizer prices at near double (Urea) and transport is projected to be minimum 10% increase in cost.
This I am strongly suggesting to get gardens ready and have alternating plans for food, water and medicines.
Case in point India will be the first major economy and population to be hammered by lack of fertilizer and far lower crop yields. For urea, demand is outpacing stocks by 3:1 and then you subtract exports from China and Russia.
- China accounts for ~10% and has restricted exports
- Russia, accounting for ~16%, is also restricting exports
The long chart by fertilizer type is the reliance on imports of fertilizer to grow food, bringing Brazil and Indonesia onto the short list.
The planetary alignment chart is the day of 7.6 earthquake off of Japan. Planetary alignments matter.
Prepare now because the never ending grind higher for prices will continue for years after this event is over, but now talking heads are saying minimum of 2027 before hostilities stop. Another two week to flatten the curve.
