Open Civil War Has Resulted From Migration Agreements

Martial law continues in Northern Guatemala in a policy protested by migration supporters yesterday in the capital.  After fortification of the Mexican border and the signing of a migration agreement with the USA, unrest spread east to the Belize border region where martial law was declared by the Guatemalan president and ratified by congress.  Gang activity and organized crime has long been on the rise in Belize, an independent nation of the British Commonwealth and the only English-speaking nation in Central America.  Election fraud and registered "phantom" voters are now contributing to further erosion of law and order, even as Belize celebrates 30 years trading with Taiwan.  It is one of the few nations continuing to resist Red China and their Taiwan-shunning "One China" policy (Panama and El Salvador abandoned Taiwan in 2017 and 2018 respectively).

The killing of three Guatemalan soldiers on September 3rd sparked the martial law decree; President Jimmy Morales described the gruesome details of the attacks in a later interview.  One of the soldiers was shot in the face with a shotgun.  Soldiers saluted and the families of the deceased mourned as their remains arrived at the airbase in Guatemala City with full state honors.  President Morales himself served as the lead pall bearer!
