Andri Peetso | Episode 34 | Conversations with Dr. Cowan & Friends
This week's podcast is an interview with a young man named Andri Peetso. Like so many people, Andri was diagnosed at a young age with a severe, life-changing disease. However, unlike many others, Andri had a sense at the time of his diagnosis that the usual ways of medicine held no answers for him. Instead, he went on his own healing journey.
Part of his healing journey included a deep investigation into the science and practice of fasting. This study led him to write a book titled "Mastering Fasting." I have been interested in the therapeutic potential of fasting for many years and have gingerly done some fasting myself. I was very excited to learn the science and practice of fasting and have already incorporated some of the techniques into my daily life. Join me for this informative and fascinating interview.

talk to the folks at true north medical center, they know way more than this guy, been doing real clinical work for decades.
Great information on fasting. I have done intermittent for a few years now. Usually lunch to lunch. I am very thin and do not have success with multi-day. I get very tired and cannot function. I may try again when I retire. I am now doing a 24 hour fast for 4-5 days about 3 times a year or when I feel I need more detox. I also do a 24 hour once a week most weeks. With working a 9-5 lunch to lunch is more in line with my day. I can even do them on work out days with ease. It makes it much easier if you stay busy during a fast.
The Quinton water or the Plasma rich water suggestion is helpful to know about as minerals seem to go out of balance when fasting, strange symptoms come with the imbalance. Also, the reversal idea on enemas is something I have considered myself, I a colonic therapist for many years... but from my experience, a gentle clean warm water with salt or small infusion of black organic coffee (depending on how early you do this) can help the liver purge some bile thus setting the tone for a fast. It isn't for everyone though and takes a certain type of dedication. Simple is always easier and makes it more doable in the long run and besides, if there isn't any proof that they are of value then perhaps it is just subjective. My husband goes along with the idea.
Definately add electrolytes, as insulin drops, so sodium retention, then energy will follow ie drop. Try a full electrolyte mineral balance. Which must be what Andri and Tom were mentioning, towards the beginning of the talk. Even if you do the OMAD (one meal a day) routine. If you can arrange to start the fast with a lunch as your final meal, you will improve the Akkermansia gut bacteria levels in the gut (these gut bacteria will improve the health of the guy lining). If you start the fast (ie last meal) with dinner, the Akkermansia levels will not improve as much compartively. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this was relayed in the Dr.Jockers Podcast.
