Live Event Tonight: A Not-As-Deep Dive Into Adventure Design

As promised, I will be hosting a Live Event tonight, Wednesday, October 28, at 8:00 PM ET, in the Discord server's Event Channel for all supporters with Discord access. A recording will be made available to Angrican-tier and higher supporters, though the recording probably won't hit until the weekend.

Unfortunately, due to ongoing work involving the Patreon changeover, the big Tension Clock Bonus Content project, and finishing Early Access Content for the month, I cannot put together a full-on Deep Dive with slides and all that. So let's call this a Not-As-Deep Dive. It'll still be good, though, I promise.

That also means it's gonna be audio only. Just FYI.

I want to give you some high-concept adventure design analysis and instruction based on my super secret Grand Unified Theory of Adventure Design, the statement that there are only four types of quests, and traditional folk poetry of China, Japan, and Korea.

But don't worry, I'm not going to try to sell you on "no conflict" adventuring. I promise. That's complete horseshit. You can't have a "no-conflict" game.

Really, this is about coming up with a central challenge for you adventure and then building around something I call an X-factor which I think I mentioned like once ever.

The Angry GM's Deep Dives are monthly Discord events for Angrican Tier supporters. In each episode, The Angry GM takes a complex gaming topic, tears it down to component atoms, and then assembles those atoms into practical, useful, actionable advice and instruction for Game Masters. To access all past and future Deep Dives, consider pledging your support.
