If you see life as a permanent competition against others, you will lose against those who focus on cooperating to mutual benefit.

You are also a fool for comparing your inside to some stranger's deliberately projected outside.

Genuine, competitive zero sum scenarios are rare, outside sports.Even if Cindy chooses Bob over you, that's not a loss. She just saved you from having to go through a divorce 7 years down the road. Same, if Jane gets the promotion you (actually, really, and not only in your head!) would have deserved. Simply update your resume and look for an organization which values your input... and you as a person.
