Two Tales of the God-Emperor
I am in the habit of walking outside at night. Often I do walking meditation, consisting of focusing my mind on the syllable AUM, or sometimes just being mindfully aware of the experiences of walking outside at night. But of course sometimes I think of things, and sometimes little artistic inspirations or duendes occur to me.

I tried leaving a comment on your blog but had to sign in to Google which is kind of awkward as I don't have a google account. So here's a quick synopsis of what I can recall previously writing.......
The first story, for me, points out that men the world over are conditioned not to cry. As the Great Western Guru Shania Twain (I think) sang - You've got to be tough, You've got to be strong, You've got to be good enough (or something like that) - and in the process conditioned many people the world over. So it challenged me. Anyway, from a Buddhist perspective aren't Buddhists supposed to be neutral and/or objective with emotions - aren't excessive emotions a hindrance? Perhaps my own Asperger tendencies have kicked in, or as another Great Western Guru said "oops I've done it again" (ruined a nice ending to a story!)
It wasn't just that he didn't want people to see him cry because he's a man, it was also that he is the God-Emperor and should not be demeaning his dignity by showing weakness.
As for the second story it reminds me of a comment by Napoleon - "A man does not get himself killed for sixpence, you have to move his heart" (something like that). Point being the difference between Oratory and the desired aims of a sociopath (think politics). I also noted that God-Emperor showed himself to be more emperor than God by not being infallible.
Some pagan gods could be quite fallible, as a pagan (or Buddhist) god is simply a being higher up on the scale than we are.
I didn't know I needed a Google account to leave a comment on your blog. I don't have one so won't leave any more comments (you're safe!). Best Wishes.
