Galae, formerly colonies of the Astrian Empire and Crimson Dominion. Their origins date back to the Dominion’s attempt to expand their territories to the East of the Marium Ocean on the continent of Avagaria. Following the Second Astro Crimson War, the Astrians colonized the northern coast of Avagaria both great powers pushing the native Avagarian Tribes eastwards from the coastal regions. During the Third Astro Crimson War following the Astrian Victory and dissolution of the Dominion the colonies were ceded to the Empire. As the centuries would come, nobles would migrate to these lands with hopes and dreams of carving out their own territories to govern. However, with the Ailing of the empire following the Five emperor Crisis, the governor noble families would be divided and the technological disparity between the local Avagarian tribes and imperial troops would shorten. It was not helped by the fact that the Imperial Garrison was poorly funded and equipped as the Empire on the mainland was repelling invasions from the Nephiric Horde and the Southern Barbarian warlords on the continent of Korinos. The Lord commander of the provinces decided to follow the example of the Duchy Rosealyon and secede from the Empire. As they paying taxes to an empire that could no longer shelter them from Olnir and Karadun raiders from the north left little reason to hamper the ailing Galaen economy. Following the secessions the newly formed republic of Galae. The republic was broken down into a series of Dukedoms lead by and elected Arch Duke as the duke of each dukedom or former province of the empire has one singular vote. However, the provinces are loosely aligned and often bicker and even fight amongst themselves. Without the mandate of the Celestial Order to keep them in line a new splinter faith was formed, Celestial Singularity, severing their ties to the Old Starborn Pantheon and dedicating themselves to the Lord of Gods as the one true god. Barbaric Monotheism. While the singularity faith believes that the Lord of Gods did indeed slay his fellow gods following their corruption. The Lord of Gods as they believe did not have sons or daughters. They still follow the belief that the Savior shall be sent at the time of great need. Galae’s stagnation and internal strife gave birth to another younger nation by the name of the Confederacy of Baster. Nobles and families who fled the constant border skirmishes between the dukedoms and Avagarian Tribes. Galae maintains relatively neutral relations with their former overlords from the Empire of Astria. Through their mixed cultural nature could mean a shift in attitude should a Novarian or Kardovian noble be elected Archduke of Galae.
