Cellist Zoe Knighton

Australian cellist Zoe Knighton talks about the World Premiere work "Hidden Thoughts 2: Return to Sender" by Katy Abbott. The libretto was created from some of the 2,000 Australian letters sent to the asylum seekers held in Detention camps on the island of Nauru which were returned unopened.
The quartet has built a huge following over the past 20 years. She mentions the value of artists in society which is something you need to remember as well. It's time for the world to change their view on Artists always being starving or doing gigs for free.  Find your own value in what you contribute to the world - have a good think about that - then the vibe you put out when you go talk to fellow artists or clients will change their view of you.

Principal Flutist Martin Cohen

Breakfast radio interview with Australian Principal flutist Martin Cohen on Fine Music Sydney.  Martin helps organise the Woollahra Philharmonic - a very interesting orchestra with a mix of advanced students and retired professionals. He talks about recruiting conductors, older members mentoring younger ones and finding suitable repertoire. With performers not competing for jobs nor money, the friendly environment is just delightful. The musicians are devoted and great friends with each other. Their following is very solid.
