Goal for the Coming Year....

Most drill presses today come with the smallest table the manufacturers can get away with.  While that makes them more economical to buy, it also makes them harder to use unless all you deal in is small stuff.

For awhile now I have been looking at the the extension table offered by Fireball Tools.  If you know anything about Jason's company, you know that he puts a lot of thought into the products he designs.... and this extension table is no exception.

As you can see in the photos, the larger surface gives you room, glorious room!

In the blacksmith trade, being able to set up to drill a series of holes with accuracy and repeatability is very important.  Maybe you're making a bunch of candle holders and need to drill for dozens of rivets?  Maybe you have to make a gate and need to end-drill the pickets to accept a threaded tenon?

When you have to do a slew of pieces and get each one right.... having the room to set up fences and guides is seriously nice, and that's what the Fireball extension table does.  So let's hope that we can make this an addition to the shop in the coming year!
