Well by golly I just got refused even a SECURED credit card (in which I deposit a certain amount as security/collateral and am unable to use the card for more than that amount), because I do not have 3 months worth of bank statements. So I will not be able to acquire even a beginner's credit card until August at the earliest. The "system" has become so complicated and all-encompassing that an outsider like me is almost barred from entry, which is very strange.
It’s called MasterCard for a reason - your soul is yours until you sign the dotted line - and it doesn’t matter if the card has a different name, it all ‘snakes’ back to the same (grand)master - it’s still possible to live without it in most places - just use cash or open a bank account at the credit union and use direct debit/interac (whatever it’s called in USSA these days); also, at 21% monthly interest why would you want one anyway? (again, maybe a regional difference) - on a different topic:- book 1 arrived today, thank you for the honorary inclusion in the preface (by deed if not by name) - that made my day and made me feel quite chuffed! 👍🏻
The thing is that some things, like apartment leases, require a credit rating, and a credit rating requires the payment of debts like credit card bills. Otherwise I have to borrow money from a bank just to pay it back, just to establish a credit rating.
Ah, I see...‘‘tis a wicked windy path......
Don't worry. Once you have jumped the hoops they'll give credit way too easy.
