thanks for the fwy accident footage Jason; thank God you have that dash cam ...the guy stopped so that's a good sign. we can only assume that you verified all the info he gave you... you are in LA after all. he does look much older than 18 though. so sorry.. truly hope there might be a positive result.
fun subjects... But for one thing, Hoover...
the point is... these schlockmeisters avoid paying any taxes because they can't CONTROL where the money goes (as we all cannot) -- instead, they donate ton$ to political assholes because bribes give them the upper hand to direct agendas to their personal narcissistic causes ..plus they can write it off, and keep their yachts and smug smiles.
therefore, it doesn't make sense that their recipients would stop the back scratching routine and tax their yachts.
'sides, taxes go to wars.. murder, regime change and invading other countries... and to those cordially invited to invade Our country.
I think that's pretty much telling it like it is... no?
The real reason businesses of this size do not pay taxes are the write offs they enjoy, given the scale of the business they conduct and the amount of capital investment they engage in. In short, the government wants tax revenue. In order to have that revenue, people need to make money. So if you are a business who hires those people who make money by working for you, the government will allow for incentives and write offs that foster expansion and reinvestment needed to remain profitable which will allow for additional employment of workers in the future. Much of this is funded by debt. So whether or not these incentives are the fruit of corruption and bribes as you say, I happen to disagree with you on their origin, they are what allows our business sector to remain competitive and grow in a global world. Now, I believe taxation is theft and immoral, especially given what tax money has been spent on historically, but without these incentives and tax breaks for business, we as in the collective WE, would have fewer choices, reduced economic output, fewer jobs and a reduced standard or living. It is economic fact that whatever you tax, you get less of.
The reason for my disagreement is based on the fact that businesses do not like competition. Because they do not like it, they are more likely to support things that reduce competition, like tax increases, minimum wage increases, and other regulations that on their face, look to be "moral" and "just," but really just improve the public perception of the brand while simultaneously stifling competitors or raise the barrier to entry for the sector through higher costs of production. This is how monopolies are formed. No monopoly has ever existed without government mandate. So be wary of when Amazon endorses a higher minimum wage, or higher taxes on businesses. They likely will not be affected by the implementation of these policies, but their smaller competitors will be.
I've been watching Sally because of you. Love what she's doing.. SO wish I could do that !!
your meeting her was such a nice serendipity in your path

hello DonkeyRope,
Thank you for taking the time to explain taxing corporations and being so clear.
I have insignificant disagreement with how this system ideally works as you describe it… so no argument.
The criticism I had was not for all businesses; it was isolated to those Hoover had noted, and their ilk... the SKG's, Bezos.. maybe Diller..
The word bribes that I used sarcastically had Nothing to do with any economic benefit, tax-wise incentives etc.. for the business empires these guys built... nothing to do with monetary benefit
What I imagine as bribes.. are the political contributions whether the deductible ones found on opensecret.. or those donated under the table.. that can in exchange, sway the legislative, executive and or judicial ... to support these donors' political agendas / global manifesto... including persuasion to go to war (with gee I don't know...Iran for example)...things that are never good for the collective WE.
I was wrong to say they avoid paying taxes; you are right there. not my expertise
just noting though...these monster yachts, though would be taxed on the owners' personal forms; not their business.
well that's all I can say before coffee.. but I appreciate your challenging me any time.
