Can We Talk About Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom?

Hey all! I'm back with some film commentary! I have a friend that I watch films with once a week and I've been keeping an eye out for predictive programming worth mentioning. Recently we decided to start the Indiana Jones series, and when we started Temple of Doom it was so dark and so strange I realized I had never seen it. Since this is an old film and basically a classic, I'm refraining from the usual play by play, but I felt the need to bring it up regardless. Have you seen it lately?
Hindu Gods. Underground cults. Blood rituals. Child slavery?!
First of all, upon a brief Google I discovered that Temple of Doom is meant to be a prequel, and technically comes first in the Jones timeline. This answered a few questions for me, like Jones' sudden lack of faith and loyalty to his love interest in the first-released film. I'm the kind of person that is interested in all aspects of a film, including the lives of the people who participated in it. I found a great article worth reading about the lore the film is based on and I'll cover some of it here as well.
Evidently this was a dark time in both Lucas and Spielberg's life. There's plenty of good trivia out there about what was going on with the main people involved at the time.  But since I've been red-pilled and made aware of what goes on in Hollywood, I found the content of the film especially disturbing. More and more people keep coming forward to talk about the pedophilia problem in Hollywood, often revealing information in layers that end in child abuse. For example, recent accusations towards Marilyn Manson began with his exes speaking out about his abusive tendencies in their relationship and turned into child trafficking.
Temple of Doom was so dark it had me asking myself what Spielberg's dirty secrets were. He's a huge name in Hollywood, arguably the biggest. He became largely successful in the 1970's and has cranked out hit after hit ever since, telling all kinds of stories with his films, from Indiana Jones to E.T to Back to the Future. He's covered human sacrifice, dinosaurs, time travel and aliens. If I were asleep I'd just dismiss him as a genius without question.
  But I'm not.
I highly suggest revisiting this film. I'm not sure how I missed seeing this one sooner...I guess I never got around to it! It's not the easiest to stomach; even my mom says it's her least favorite Indiana Jones because it's "just so messed up" and I don't blame her. So much of the lore is based on disturbing truth, from the worship of Kali Ma to the Thuggee religious cult, making Hindu culture and lore worth researching. I think it's important to examine religions and their history all around the world to gain a greater perspective of the big picture of our species.
Some things just hit different when you're awake!
