WIRED: How Hyperreal Masks Keep Fooling People

These masks have been around since 1989/1990, complete with voice modification. Even then, the CIA masks were EXTREMELY difficult to discern unless you know a trait about the person being imitated. 1989/1990 - CD's were just coming around, cell phones were known as blocks if you could afford one (about $8500 at today's dollar), smartphones was a while away and the internet was just making its public appearance and dial-up usage (like 9800 baud)... So given the changes in tech since 89.90, how much do you think the masks have improved in the same time span?
