I built my own website a long time ago, and looked at it recently. It was bulky, and needed a lot of work to make it nicer. And while I am a really good coder and wrote almost the whole thing from scratch, I did not have the brain-space for it. I really didn't. I want to work more on my next book, I want to world-build and conlang more! I want to focus on that. So I decided to let ChatGPT and Codex take care of it. I used pyCharm, linked it to Codex, and let it go to town on my website. I had it hack out crap I'd implemented but didn't use anymore, got rid of the Bootstrap framework I'd been using, and had it revamp the site using a new template I had ChatGPT generate. And now, it looks bloody amazing! Now, don't get me wrong. I hate the idea of vibecoding. You need to know how to code and understand what a program is doing, or you're stuffed. And I made damn sure of that when I did this. I trusted it to do the CSS right and HTML, because, frankly, that's not real code IMO. But the server backend, Codex touched it only when I asked it, and very sparingly. And any change it made, I scrutinised heavily. And sometimes, it did make mistakes that I had to correct. Having said that, it allowed me to do in five hours what would have taken me three weeks. And that I cannot appreciate more.
So go and check out the site. And read about my upcoming project, The Silver Alchemist.
