Jacky Goes Around the World in 80 Days Dev Dairy: 10 September/25/2026
My it has been a while ;w; why don't we see what has happened between February and now?

the last few months has been super busy and turbulent for a lot of us but never the less we remain passionate about the project and the learning curve its thrown at us.

In a game like this based on the source material, meant to have such a variety of locations, themes and aesthetics, one of the main things I have been gunning for in the project is making the levels in Godot easier to make but that still requires its own mountain of work in putting together these tiles, mostly in my free time and with the help of some new talent, Mr Koro, the level terrain still remains a slow process but the results cannot are nothing to scoff at!

while making the levels seems to be easy once the controls are down, getting it to work was a headache for the longest time, first was an adjustment to how the character animations were implemented, at first they were on an 'atlas' with boxes that were scaled to the frames size but that meant the collision box would be inconsistent and go on the fritz after a certain point, that was fixed by making it into more of a slide show grid the animations play through and the collision boxes now are uniform.
The next issue was when the player character went to far away from the center origin point of the engine, Jacky would start break dancing and rapidly cycle through animations.

So now to fix that the levels will have to be made into 'chunks' with their respective scenes being made to just transition through seamlessly. at least, that is the goal.
Jacky herself has had a bunch of fixes, cleanup work and additional animations added to her sheet. the biggest hurdle was getting her walking cycle to work, I am very happy with how it has turned out :]

as always this is subject to change, this project looks so much different AND BETTER than I ever expected when I first started all this.
I even learned some blender stuff over the year you can see at the bottom, look at that GLOBE! I made THAT!! Yes I was staring at it for an hour after i finished it. Thats going to be the little loading icon also :3
The first level is coming along nicely but still slowly.
I have been debating back and forth with myself on setting up a kickstarter for this to fund the rest of the project after the main work is done under the hood because there is still a long road of work needed.
Coding
More ART.
Music
Voice acting
All made 100% by people.
Getting this on to steam still all has its price and I want to make sure that I can fulfill that to everyone who helps me
So I wan to thank you all who have been supporting me and please, if you enjoy my work and want to help me see this passion project through, share this post and lets get more eyes on the project!
and as always, thank you all for reading and I hope you all have a wonderful day ^^

Glorious and fantastic work so far. The movement is looking a lot smoother.
