A Sample of Modern Burmese Buddhist Poetry
This is an old post that I posted on my older, more blatantly Buddhist blog more than eight years ago, but it is very nice and well worth reading. One thing I really liked about it is that it reminded me of the starry-eyed idealism and enthusiasm I felt as a young monk.

"Joy does not come through pleasure, joy comes through pain. Agitation accompanies pleasure. The way to stillness accompanies pain. The end of pleasure is dissatisfaction. The end of pain is joy. Then comes whatever has to come in its own way."
Profound poem... Many good lines but the one above struck me. "Then comes whatever has to come"... Even knowing there is still this residue of the aggregates which must go according to Nature. The clinging mind suffers much not recognizing... Why do I allow my mind to get involved? A great reminder to be more mindful. Thanks!
