Our meal offering at the monastery today, consisting of traditional foods made by a kind Burmese family. The seconds table is the dessert table. One meal per day is offered at 11 a.m. with no other foods consumed until the next day. Several local Buddhist families make offerings each week. Today's was extra fancy for a birthday. Occasionally the kind Dr. brings me western food on Wednesday, like bread or a cheeseburger. Butter, bread, and cheese are completely foreign to the Burmese.
