Affiliate crash and burn

I have a funny discovery while doing all of my app updates. Remember GPX Builder? I was running a very nice looking affiliate link to Glimworm Beacons that was going to pay me 10%. Well I just tapped on the ad to see where it went and the site is now some spammers blog. That’s the dangers of affiliate marketing I guess, and the reason you should always randomly test ads in your apps. The cost of you tapping on an ad vs. the cost of that ad sending one of your users to a horribly inappropriate site is worth the risk. (The risk being that some ad platforms threaten to kick you out of the program if they catch you clicking on your own ads.)

Since there aren’t any other beacon companies that now have affiliate programs I’m just going to swap out that advertisement with an AdMob ad instead. I was actually considering removing ads all together on this app and leaving only the affiliate link because it looked so good, but without it the screen is just so empty. So here we go with the ads again.
