Three Cheap and Simple Solutions to Improve Audio in You Streaming Video

Today I want to talk about three cheap and simple solutions for better audio in streaming video.

Over the last few months I have been doing more video. I've been doing interviews with celebrities and I've been doing live streaming broadcasts, like talk shows, that have guests.

The thing that I have discovered through the last few months is that most people are using either WebCams or their smart phones to do streaming. While the video portion is usually fairly good from those devices the audio is often terrible.

WebCams and cell phones have poor quality microphones to start with, and the further you get away from the device the worst that sound is. So if you're 8 to 12 inches away from the device it's usually okay but if you're two feet away then it's much worse and if you’re even further away from the device then the sounds is low, it starts picking up the echo in the room, and a bunch of static, and your voice starts to sound like Mickey Mouse. This is what I’m been dealing regularly with guests and friends that I’m talking to on Skype, Zoom, Google Meet or elsewhere.

Now the setup that I have for audio has a professional XLR microphone with a supporting boom that goes to a mixer and from the mixer it goes to an audio interface and then from there goes back into my computer.

Unless you’re doing professional audio, like professionally produced video productions, or audiobooks, or very slick podcasts you don't need an audio set up like that.

What I'm going to propose are three solutions to get better audio for your streaming video that are around $100 or less.
