As much as I criticize the Democratic Party, one would think I were a Republican, but I am not. The Grand Old Party’s tendency to prioritize the interest of corporations above all else (which has turned the majority of us into debt-slaves), their Neo-Conservative hegemonic goals, and their politics of resentment make them supremely unpalatable to me.
I am a Liberal Social Democrat. I believe that our government should function for the welfare and security of the People, and with respect for individuality and our individual liberties. In the Pre-Post-Truth Era this would have made me a Leftist, but reactionary politics has prompted today’s Left to shift so far left that they’re practically right-wing.
It’s so fucking depressing.
I am only harder on Democrats because I expect and demand better of them… and because I am pissed off that their progressively anti-liberal bent has now rendered me a political orphan.
