Progress Report 8/10/2019


Hey there! First off, my apologies for not posting anything for about 3 weeks.
I've not had a lot of time to work, however I did work on the 2nd branch area. (Which includes the more open-area kind of adventuring.

I've been adding some water and a forest area, paired with a sky with actual moving clouds.

The terrain still needs a lot of work, but whilst I am actually quite perfectionistic, I'll have to hold myself back from putting to much time into aesthetics for now.

Progress Report 17/9/19


Hey everyone!
Within my recent spare time, I've been able to start working on some basic upgrades and a sanity meter.

All of these are subject to change as the project makes progress, however it should at the very least give you a good understanding of what my goal is.

First off, there are multiple subjects regarding the player that can be upgraded, this can vary from gear to actual stats from the player.
Examples for Gear:
Match upgrades:
-10% chance of getting an extra match upon picking up a match box.
- Slightly increased area of effect
- Increased time before fire dies out.
- Can now be used to lighten up torches too instead of just candles. (Lit torches and candles give a permanent safe-area for your sanity as long as you're closeby)

Candle Upgrades:
-Takes less time to lighten up
-Remove run-speed debuff when candle is held

Sanity Upgrades:
-Gain more sanity upon  eating  GOOD food.
-Lose less sanity upon sanity-losing events
-Increase resistance to sanity-inducing effects

Player Upgrades:
-Increased base movement speed
-Increased speed when climbing stairs
-Increased resistance to poison/fatigue

These upgrades are merely experimental and have not been added to the game yet, but the upgrade SYSTEM has been added.

I do plan on giving most of these upgrades a small negative too so the game doesn't get too easy.
For example:
-Increased base movement speed BUT enemy perception range is slightly increased.

REGARDING SANITY:
Sanity is a game mechanic that I've always found interesting.
Sanity determines how many "illusions"  you experience and how several enemies interact with you. Basically having a lower amount of sanity will increase the amount of jumpscares you'll experience. And also some other things that are to be revealed at a later date.

Getting a sanity of 0 ends up in the player killing himself.

Progress Report 9/9/2019


Hey there. Back with another progress report.
I am still working on a lot of the AI pathfinding, and it's definitely doing a lot better.
I've also worked on some basic interior, making sure I am making decent progress for the upcoming demo.

For now I'll guess that I can release the first version of the demo in about a month. Although I am not making any promises. :p

Progress Report #2 24/08/19

Currently doing a lot of placeholder environment creation that allows me to kickstart things for the demo. 

Since I now have some sort of layout for things to work with, my next task is getting some actual working basic AI's in there. Which is something I'll be working on the next couple of days.

What has been done this month:
-Most of the demo layout. (I'll most likely add another floor to the brown area for the demo, allowing you to go up.
-Working matchstick & candle, allowing the player to see more in dark places.
-Ability to read books, notes and the ability to close them.
-Obtained new materials to work with, to give the game a slightly different look. (Most of the current wall, roof graphics etc you see are placeholders.)

The plan

Hey there,

I'd like to clarify a few things.
Depending on the support (might speed things up a bit here and there), I'd reckon that I'd have a very early demo for the game in 2-3 months.

This demo will take place at the beginning of the game, where you'll be able to choose your first branching path. 

The branching path will influence your game, quests and items eventually allows you to play through the game multiple times as it definitely changes gameplay and adds entirely new things.

For now, I plan to end the demo right after finishing the first quest that comes after either of the branches. This may be extended depending on the progress I make.

After the demo is out, I'll probably add a new build for patrons bi-monthly, allowing patrons to basically have early access to the game.

Again, the demo and test builds would not be reflective of the finished game.
I plan to get the basics and groundwork down first and then actually improve how the game looks. This includes texture size, interior etc.

Progress Report #1 31-7-19

Currently some basic mechanics have been established.
-The player is able to walk, jump and crouch.
-Door + Key mechanics

As goes without saying: 
Any materials/textures/models/sounds you see, can change further in development.

Hey there! Thank you for visiting my page.

I am a man with many dreams. One of these is creating entertaining games.

Games have always been my passion, but what I love more than playing games is making other people happy too. That's why it lightens my day when other people are having fun with something I have created.

At the moment I am a lone creator, which is why I currently use Unity. Unity is great at helping people create games through assets people release through their store.
However, one unfortunate thing is that money is always an issue. I need money to purchase good assets, and to sustain myself in life.

This is why I created a patreon. With your help I can dedicate myself to creating things for everyone to enjoy.

Currently I am working on a horror game, which has some inspiration from the SCP games. However, the games still remain very different.

I am very much hoping that you can join me on my journey. Any kind of support would mean the world to me.
