Weekly Update: #22

Happy Friday all! Not a whole lot to say about this week, so this will be a short post.

This weekend is my last show for the summer, so with getting ready for it and helping my family get their own stuff ready for it, I didn't even attempt to do any writing or artwork this week as it would be difficult to focus on it. Next week though, things will be getting back to normal on that front and I'll be back at the digital art and writing and really pushing to get a lot done (especially on the writing).

However, as promised, the third chapter draft of From the Ashes posted on Monday! I'm probably close to half-way through writing chapter 8 and I've been aiming for 15-20 written I start posting them publicly on Royal Road. Considering I just started writing this one in early May, I'd say it's been coming along fairly well. Once my shows are behind me though and I switch gears back to focusing on writing, I expect it won't be terribly long before I reach my backlog goal.

August's chapter draft of An Inkling of Magic goes public on Monday! If you've been reading   along with the public releases, you only have to wait a few more days to read chapter 6. September's chapter is already saved in my post drafts and will be posting for patrons to read this coming Thursday. And October's, I still have to write and, but it will be one of the first things I work on after this weekend's show.

I've been in a serious rockhounding mood lately, but all of the good spots to go picking up rocks are 1+ hours away from me. So, to pacify it a bit, I went through my stash of already found rocks and picked out a few to polish up for jewellery use. Here's how they turned out!

Polished Petoskey Stones, Charlevoix Stones, and other fossils.
The tiny one in the upper right hand corner is a little shell fossil, the little one in the middle is a favosite coral fossil known as a Charlevoix Stone, and the rest are Petoskey Stones (another type of coral fossil). I hand polished them all with sandpaper ranging from 120 grit all the way up to 15,000 grit before finishing off with tin oxide. Needless to say, my hands seriously hurt now! It's been so long since I did any hand polishing I forgot how much work it is! I'll definitely be taking a break before polishing up a new batch.

Well, that's all for this week! Like I said, not a whole lot to update on this week, but, next week, it's back at the proverbial grindstone!

See ya then, and thanks for reading!
