April 30, 2021 Update: This week, my horizontal band saw quit working, and upon disassembling it I found that the main worm gear was worn down to nothing.  I bought the saw new just a couple years ago, so I'm a little surprised they designed it with parts that would wear out so quickly.  Moreover, replacement parts are not available, so I launched a two-pronged initiative to repair it myself: first, I'm trying to make a new worm gear from scratch.  Of course, that probably won't last long either, but hopefully it will get the saw up and running long enough to finish cutting up angle iron for my root cellar.  Then, for a long-term solution, I ordered a planetary gearbox with the same gear ratio as the worm gear and a rated wear life that should translate into 30+ years of service.  The lead time on the gear box is about a month, and then once it arrives I will have to figure out how to retrofit the saw with it, but hopefully it will provide a good long-term fix.

Troubleshooting the band saw took up most of my time this week, but I did get my website announcement video filmed, although I still need to edit it.  I'm also filming the band saw repairs, and I got my red-dot sight back from Holosun this week, so I should be able to proceed with making my review of the sight soon, if the weather cooperates.  The weather this week has rarely been conducive to filming outdoors, with the result that I haven't gotten around to filming my "wasteland shuffle" entry video yet.

Anyway, this weekend I think I will upload a video I made about my attempts at working with cutting and polishing agates and other rocks I find here in Idaho.
