December 18, 2020 Update: Some time ago, I uploaded a video about my method for making flat springs out of high-carbon steel strapping material. This week, I experimented with making a zigzag flat spring from a scrap of steel strapping that could be used as a replacement for an AR15 magazine spring. My homemade spring took up a little more space in the magazine than the original wire spring, reducing the capacity slightly, but the magazine functioned well with the homemade spring, and I have finished editing the video about the experiment. That was probably the highlight of my week. However, I also spent some time working on the draft of my allegorical western novel. This weekend, though, I think I will upload a video I made a while back about a trick for easily loading double-stack, single-feed magazines without any special tools.
