All updates are currently on hold until I clear out my current commission queue and build up a bigger back log of comic pages. I'll see you guys again soon!

Some more Stanley sketches! Decided to do some with both Stanley and his companion Vivian, since they're both the main characters and all.

I'm still making progress on the comic pages, tho it's been going a bit slower than I'd wanted. I'll have some more updates on that front vert soon! ;)

Even adventurers have to stay inside because of the rain sometimes. Not much to do but start a nice fire, take a load off, and listen as the world weeps.

Page 9 of the original Stanley Crowe comic. I had a lot of fun with this one, especially with adding all the little critters hiding from the rain.

Stanley's Sketchbook! I like the idea of Stanley being a musician, especially since he doesn't speak. He lets his guitar do his talking for him. Well, I think it's a guitar, anyway. More like some kind of lute / bouzouki thing.

Stanley and Vivian are conferring with a local wise woman. She's putting on quite a show, so she surely must have some very important things to say. Surely.

Page 8 of the original Stanley Crowe comic.I definitely made some major improvements with my coloring on this one.

Some more expressions of my boy Stanley Crowe. I'm havin' a lot of fun with these, and there's still plenty more to do! If anyone has suggestions for expressions, I'd love to hear them :)
I wound up using reference for a bunch of these, since I wanted them to look right. NEVER assume what faces look like without checking, you'll often be surprised ;)

In this leg of their journey, Stanley and Vivian must cross the Pool of Whispering Souls, wherein lie the trapped spirits of all the adventurers who've fallen in. Unable to ever leave their watery prison, they can only watch as their fellow travelers cross the pond without them. Be careful though - one slip and you'll fall in, where you'll be dragged to the murky depths by these poor, vengeful wretches, where you'll languish forever alongside all the rest who couldn't make it.
Will you cross safely? Or will your adventure end here?

Page 7 of the original Stanley Crowe, another attempt to experiment with weird, curved perspective. This one gave me a lot of problems color-wise, and I wound up having to tweak Stanley's face digitally. I'll DEFINITELY be pushing some harsher colors and shadows for pics like this in the future ;)

Stanley Sketchbook pg.1 - Some facial expressions I did for Stanley to get the proper feel for the character. I'll be sure to upload these as well as the pages so you can see what goes into the creation of the characters.

Stanley, you're a pumpkin-headed guy, it's October, and this is a bakery. Not one of your brightest moves, buddy...

The fourth page of the original Stanley Crowe comic. I had a lot of fun playing around with weird perspective with this pic, tho looking back I feel like I could've push it further in spots.

"Watcha need, stranger? We got everything an adventurer such as yerself could ever need! We got shrunken heads, squiggly bottles, invisible swords, healing potions, killing potions, shiny rocks... whatever you need, we got it!"

Another one of my personal favs from the original Stanley Crowe book. I had a lot of fun with the design of the merchant cart.

Adventuring is hungry work, and every good adventurer knows the importance of keeping their strength up. So pick a spot under the cozy shade of a dead tree, lay out you trusty cloak, and let's eat! A tasty sammich for Stanley and a plague rat for Vivian (her favorite!)
Eat up quickly though, there's lots of adventuring to do!

One of my personal favorites of the original Stanley Crowe series, though I should've included some fleas jumping off the rat to make it look more mangy.

My apologies for the delay this time, I got caught up with some Mother's Day stuff and it totally slipped my mind.

As any good adventurer can tell you, performing fetch quests for random NPCs is all a part of the job. Here, Stanley is tasked by a skeleton farmer with clearing all the mischievous fire sprites off his land. Easier said then done, but a true adventurer never turns down a fetch quest!

Page 5 of the original Stanley Crowe book! The perspective on this one is kinda effed up, I regret not taking more time to make sure it was composed better. Ah well, I hope you enjoy it anyways :)

An adventurer always need to be on the lookout for a random encounter! Every corner you turn, every bush you inspect, every new screen has a chance of spawning some beastie just spoiling for a fight.

I like this monster concept, so you can bet I'll be doing something fun with it in the comic proper. I originally had a random tree in the middle-ground, but it was seriously hurting the composition. Nothing a little cut-and-past and digital touch up couldn't fix ;)

The land opens up in front of you; a quaint little village sits just down the road; what lies beyond those mountains? Only one way to find out!

The third page of the original Stanley Crowe book, and the first proper story page. As this was the first actual full painting, you can see some rough spots. I think my color balance has improved a lot since then, and the scanning job wasn't all that great.

I'm still working on the first issue of the actual comic, then you'll see how much I've improved since this ;)

Meet Vivian, Stanley's dearest friend, closest ally, and mightiest weapon. She's a magic serpent who can turn into a powerful sword, used to battle all sorts of beasties. When not doing that, she enjoys a good book and a sarcastic remark.

Like Stanley, her original design hasn't changed much but my draftsmanship has gotten much better in the past 3 years. I probably won't bother making new character sheets though.

The official character sheet for our hero Stanley Crowe! His design has changed very little since this, just  few minor tweaks to remove some extraneous detail and make it a bit more expressive.

GREETINGS, BOILS AND GHOULS!

Jacob Firestone
here, and I'm happy to announce that my Subscribestar page is finally live! I'm gonna be using this account to fund my comic Stanley Crowe, a hand painted spooky adventure comic. I'd previously made a small book of paintings of the guy (back when I was using my old name) and I'll be posting them all here for free while I work on the first official issue.

Aside from this, I'll be posting tons of extras like sketches and concept art, plus the monthly spooky painting poll where you weirdos can vote on a horror-themed painting for me to do in addition to the comic.

I'm stoked to finally be getting this series off the ground, and I hope you'll enjoy it too.

You can also find me on NEWGROUNDS and TWITTER, if you're so inclined.
